Fendalton Modern

Overview

This residential landscape project brought together a refined, design-led garden that balances strong architectural function with moments of artistic expression.

Delivered in collaboration with Glasson Huxtable Landscape Architects, the project brings together premium hardscape materials and furniture, structured spatial planning, and a curated series of sculptural elements to create a cohesive and highly personalised outdoor environment.

A key driver of the design was the integration of the clients fascination with sculpture, using them as a central feature. Working alongside providers of high-quality sculptures from throughout Australasia, including a number of key pieces from Bespoke Sculptures, a selection of steel and bronze pieces were incorporated throughout the landscape. These works acted as focal points within the garden, drawing the eye along pathways and across spaces, creating a landscape that feels expressive and curated.

Alongside this, a number of structural elements help define the space, including a concrete water feature, masonry walls, frameless glass fencing, and a wrought iron gate. These components follow the same material language and detailing, helping tie different areas of the site together. The water feature in particular adds a quieter element within the layout, sitting in contrast to the more solid, constructed forms around it.

The project required careful coordination, particularly where different materials and features intersect. Attention to levels, alignment, and sequencing was important throughout, especially around paving and the installation of the sculptural pieces. The end result is a functional landscape where each element sits comfortably within the overall design.
